as part of my new 'its my blog and i'll post whatever i want, dammit' attitude, today its time for my first restaurant review...
so, like, two months ago, I texted elise to tell her that my new bangs really wanted to go to brunch the next day...
i based my pick 100% on the fact that the restaurant was easily accessable to both of us, near Billy's (get the banana cake - YUM), and had crabcakes benedict on the menu.
this blog is not about that place.
ANYWAY - while we were there, elise pointed out the place across the street, mentioned that it was a vegan restaurant that her sister had recently been to and how we should check it out... a couple weeks later, at elise's superbowl party, her sister said the place sucked. elise assured me that this meant that we would like it...
fast forward a couple more weeks and i see that another restaurant of similar name just opened up on the UWS - sure enough, same owners, same concept, etc...
and that brings me to today...
Roopa was going to be in town and wanted to go to brunch... the texts started this morning - although i fell asleep with the phone on my chest, mid-text - but we had no plan of where to go, until elise remembered Blossom Cafe...
after a little mistaken address issue, we finally got there and got a table.
i opened the menu and declared that it would be my new favorite restaurant EVER, *if* it would deliver to my apartment...
now, i will grant you this - you need to either already be familiar with vegetarian/vegan food or you need to have an open mind, but i think thats true of ANY vegan, kosher, organic restaurant... (its also true of french restaurants, just without the vegan part, but i digress...) However, if you can get past the names of some of the meat-alternatives, this menu ROCKS. we all opted for lunch food since the breakfast stuff was all the standard stuff that we could get anywhere else, whereas, how many other places serve a completely vegetarian bacon cheeseburger???
elise and i both chose that bacon cheeseburger and roopa got the philadelphia steak sandwich... roopa and i also both got cajun sweet potato fries and elise got regular sweet potato fries...
i though my food was quite good - a soy burger is a soy burger, but the fake bacon was pretty good and the cheese was way better than i expect from soy cheese... the cajun sweet potato fries were my new favorite!
we also got some shakes and smoothies, which, honestly, were ok, but i think i'd probably skip next time and the bill was a bit pricey, but good, healthy, organic, vegan food within delivery radius??? i'll totally take it.

Blossom is the new Trailer Park ;)
I thought my "burger" was delish, and I will be going back for more. With you, I hope!
And I totally forgot about the conversation "if my sister hates, we will love it". hahaha!Wi
